Riverview Public School

MUSTANG SALLY STARTS ANOTHER CHARACTER EDUCATION YEAR - 2008 On Thursday, October 24, Mustang Sally played its first Character Education Day performance at a school with a lot of CHARACTER -Riverview Public School. What a treat. Thanks to Mrs. Forbes, the principal at Riverview, her staff and the awesome students who were so quick to assist us at every turn, in such a friendly manner. Songs that really got the crowd involved were "Knockin' On Heaven's Door,""Stuck in the Middle With You," Black Horse and a Cherry Tree," Sweet Home Alabama," and "Sweet Child of Mine."

A very special part of the day was a spontaneous submission to our band by a grade 6 student, Taylor Bond, who aspires to someday be a song writer (see picture of Taylor onstage with Mustang Sally). She gave us one of her song lyrics, "Remember Me Always," to consider someday singing. Unbeknown to Taylor, Mustang Sally quickly got the music together and arranged to sing the song as a ballad to Taylor for the last song of our performance. Taylor was called to the stage and was pleasantly surprised by the performance of her very first publicly performed song. Students really cheered her on and showed their pride for one of their own onstage. Keep on songwriting Taylor! Your aspirations are already coming true for you. We learned that RIVERVIEW ROCKS WITH CHARACTER!
